Our History

Our Beginnings
In July 1998, the Little River Baptist Association purchased land in the Ponderosa Subdivision of Trigg County, Kentucky, with the vision of planting a new church. In December 1999, East Cadiz Baptist Church voted to sponsor the mission. By April 2000, an Army surplus cook tent was erected on the property, and on Palm Sunday afternoon, the very first service was held.

The Building Begins
Concrete was poured in late August 2000, and construction soon took off. By August 2001, the new church building was completed and dedicated — entirely debt-free, a testimony to God’s provision and the commitment of His people.

The Church for
"The Lake People"
In March 2002, an atrium was added to the building with the help of the Kentucky Campers On Mission. Just two years later, in May 2004, the congregation partnered again with the Kentucky Campers to construct a fellowship hall, further expanding the church’s ability to serve both its members and the community.

Who We Are Today
From a simple tent to a debt-free building, and from a mission start to a thriving church family,
Ponderosa Baptist Church has been blessed every step of the way.
We remain an active member of the Little River Baptist Association,
continuing to build on our strong foundation of faith.
Our mission is simple: to glorify God, proclaim the Gospel, and serve others with love and truth.
